  2. 1 5 4 Sports ▶Reading Comprehension Handball Team Wins Asiad Title Korea won the gold medal in men’s handball at the recently ended Asian Games, defeating Iran 32-28 in the final at the Huashi Gymnasium in southern Guangzhou. Left wing Lee Tae-young shone, as he fired nine shots to help his country claim the sixth Asiad title. Both the men and women’s handball teams were strong contenders for the gold in Guangzhou. The teams have collected five gold medals since the event was officially introduced at the Asiad in 1982. However, the men’s victory was more meaningful since Korea regained its gold in the event. Korea failed to reach the final at the Doha games four years ago amid controversies over a technical foul and so were deprived of a gold medal chance. ”I’m so happy with the victory. I feel I’ve left all my burdens behind,” said coach Cho Young-shin after the match. “I want to thank them for having endured the harsh training. Now I want to win a gold in London Olympics,” he added. Veteran Yoon Kyung-shin expressed delight as he wound up his last Asian Games with a glittering gold medal. “I felt I’ve fulfilled a long-cherished desire to win the gold medal again at my last Asiad.” Meanwhile, the women’s team failed to defend their title, surprisingly defeated by Japan in the semifinals. ☞ Choose the best answer based on the article.
