  2. ACTION POINTS • Formulate and issue policies and guidelines which shall institutionalize a Preparedness and Response System for Avian Influenza (AI) and Influenza pandemics • Strengthen management structures and support mechanisms with clearly delineated command and control posts • Develop a Pandemic Preparedness Plan Policy and Standards Development Team for Service Delivery

  3. ACTIONS TAKEN/STATUS/REMARKS • Preparedness and Response Plan developed • DOH Management Committee on Prevention and Control of Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases created; planning sessions/workshops conducted • Conducted advocacies among Cabinet members, Legislators, diplomatic corps, LGUs, medical specialty organizations, NGOs, other government agencies, business groups, private and government hospitals Policy and Standards Development Team for Service Delivery

  4. Prototype IEC materials and posters developed, ready for reproduction • Speakers’ Bureau Training for CHD personnel conducted • Advisories and updates are regularly released thru the news and posted in the DOH website • Established E-communication links and mechanisms, e.g. E-group for AI; DOH website links to DA, WHO, CDC; DOH SMS/MMS Hotline Policy and Standards Development Team for Service Delivery

  5. Strengthened capabilities of DOH health facilities through the conduct of training on surveillance and response to emerging infectious diseases • Established management structures to ensure implementation of plans and preparedness activities at all levels of public health authorities • National AI Task Force for Avian Influenza Protection Program, interagency meetings conducted • Regional and Local TF and Team Leaders for each critical area identified • Partnerships with Business Sector and other government agencies established Policy and Standards Development Team for Service Delivery

  6.  OTHER ACTION POINTS REQUIRED • Funding for: • Training of other LGU personnel and hospital personnel, including Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams • Reproduction of all IEC materials, posters • Inadequate funding for Stage 3 and 4 of AI Protection Program for CHD and Hospitals • Need to review draft guidelines and update it, for AO formulation • Need to develop a training module on Infection Control • Need to conduct update sessions among DOH-Management Committee and as well as the Business Sector (through CNDR and PBSP) Policy and Standards Development Team for Service Delivery
