  3. Why Residential Outdoor Education? Purposes: • To further develop the pupils independence • To provide elements of challenge and adventure • To acquire new and relevant skills and knowledge that are transferable • To provide new opportunities - future use of leisure time • For enjoyment ‘The children haven’t stopped talking about it’ Headteacher ‘It was really brilliant, I wish I could still be there’ Pupil ‘He absolutely loved it’ Junior School Parent

  4. Self Confidence Self Reliance Responsibility Nant Bwlch Yr Haearn Visits are also organised away from school to enrich the Curriculum. Whilst away from school, opportunities are offered to develop: Care, regard and respect for others and the environment

Nant Bwlch Yr Haearn Daily Activities Day Two – Full Day Activity 8.30 a.m. Make Packed Lunch and eat breakfast 9.30 – 12.00 p.m. Morning Activity 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. Lunch 1.30 pm – Load coach and say goodbyes 3.30 (approx.) – Arrive back in school Day One 9.30 a.m. – 10.00am Leave school for Nant B.H. 10.45a.m.(approx) Arrive at Nant B.H. 11.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. children allocated dormitories, beds made (by children!!), unpacking, meet staff, fire drill and ‘kit’ allocation. 12.00 – 1.00 p.m. Lunch 1.00 – 4.30 p.m. Afternoon activity 4.30 – 5.00 p.m. Free Time 5.00 – 6.00 p.m. Tea 6.00 – 6.30 p.m. Free Time 6.30 – 9.00 p.m. Evening Activities 9.00 – 10.00 p.m. Supper 10.00 – 10.30 p.m. Free Time 10.30 p.m. Lights Out

  8. What equipment do I need? • Everything included on the equipment list • Old clothes • Indoor shoes/slippers • Medication/inhalers • No specialist equipment – all provided (you can bring walking shoes if you wish) • Reading book • No mobile phones!

What is expected of us? • Respect for the centre and its equipment • Commitment - to every activity, making the most of the opportunity • Consideration - for others, including staff • Cooperation - work together, support your peers • Good manners - inside and outside the centre • Listen carefully to instructions and advice • Maturity • Independence • Appropriate behaviour – essential • Enjoy ourselves and make the most of the opportunity
