  1. History • In 1931 some credit men met and discussed the Credit problem of their companies. They envisioned a need to form an organization. • April 19, 1932 they formally formed the association as a non-stock non-profit institution under the name of “Association of Credit Men, Inc.” • In 1967 the Association formally changed its name to Credit Management Association of the Philippines (CMAP) Inc. • At present CMAP has over 350 member companies from the banking, financing, services, trading, manufacturing, and insurance sectors of the Philippine business. • Also, affiliated with CMAP are regional credit associations from Visayas and Mindanao.

  2. Vision • Foster a strong and sturdy professional association • Contribute to the financial stability of itsmember and national economic growth and progress • Nurture credit consciousness, responsibility and discipline among credit grantors and credit users

Mission • To make CMAP the premier credit management institution • To instill, develop and nurture credit consciousness, responsibility and discipline • To promote active and voluntary interchange, mutual andreciprocal use, of quality credit information • To establish maintain and perpetuate mutual confidence, closer cooperation, fellowship and camaraderie among creditmen • To promote continuing credit education • To ensure wise and healthy use of credit

Objectives • To promote active and voluntary interchange of credit information amongst members • To develop and nurture credit consciousness among credit practitioners. • To instill discipline among credit users and credit grantors. • To contribute to the country's economic development thru effective credit management.

  5. Membership Regular members are members who may be business organizations or individuals. Currently, membership is organized on a per industry group such as: 1. Banking - 23% 2. Trading - 20% 3. Financing/Lending Investors - 19% 4. Manufacturing - 17% 5. Services - 10% 6. Real Estate - 5% 7. Insurance - 4% 8. Telecommunications - 2%

  6. Qualifications forRegular Corporate member Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission Operating for at least two (2) years Has a credit and/or collection unit within their organization Good business and credit reputation Sound financial condition

CMAP STANDING COMMITTEES • Credit Education and Research Committee    is responsible for providing continuing education and training to members and other credit and collection practitioners through seminars and workshops on various aspects of credit and collection management and other related fields. • Credit Information Services Committee is responsible for providing members with credit information services necessary to facilitate credit evaluation and decision making. • Industry Group Committee    is responsible for fostering closer cooperation among members by grouping them according to industry or line of business through industry group meeting where members exchange credit and collection experiences and ideas, discuss and resolve problems peculiar to their respective industry and facilitate exchange of credit and collection information on common customers or accounts. • Membership Committee    is responsible for recruiting and sustaining membership, processing and evaluating membership applications and establishing and maintaining linkages with other credit associations.

  11. Credit Congress Committee     is responsible for the holding of the Credit Congress which is the culminating activity of the Association for fiscal year and its participation in the yearly celebration of the "National Credit Consciousness Week". • Programs and Sports & Fellowship Committee is responsible for the holding of regular memberschip meetings of the Association and promoting physical fitness, fostering camaraderie and fellowship among members through sports activities. • Legal and Ethics Committee     is responsible for handling all legal matters and issues involving CMAP. • Social Involvement Committee responsible for the outreach Program of the Association. • Finance Committee is responsible in the preparation of Annual Budget and overseeing the financial condition of CMAP.

Listing of Court Cases is a compilation of court cases filed in the different courts of Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Cebu, Davao and almost all key cities in the Philippines on the following categories: a. Batas Pambansa # 22 b. Estafa c. Foreclosure d. Illegal Recruitment e. Ejectment f. Falsification of Public Document g. Replevin h. Sum of Money i. Unlawful Detainer j. Swindling k. Attachment L. Other Deceits

  13. 2. Listing of Returned Checks is a compilation of clients who issued check(s) which was/we dishonored by the drawee bank submitted by CMAP's members. 3. Listing of Accounts Endorsed to Lawyers is a compilation of accounts endorsed to legal submitted by the members of CMAP. 4. Listing of Past Due Accounts from telecommunication companies. 5. Listing of Past Due Accounts from manufacturing companies.

Activities • General membership meetings Held Quarterly with invited Guest Speaker to talk on topic of current national importance and common interest to the general membership. • Committee meetings Held when necessary for the preparation of projects and activities to be undertaken by the committee. • Seminars/Workshop Conducts the following staple seminars/workshop • Property Appraisal Credit Investigation • Financial Analysis • Credit Analysis, Evaluation & Scoring • Forgery Detection & Fraud Prevention • Dynamics of Credit Transaction Documentation • Small Money Claims/Symposium on Income Tax Update • Collection Strategies & Technique • Skip Tracing, Property Search & Land Title Verification • Legal Aspect of Credit & Collection • Collection in Crisis Seminar • Account Management Seminar

  15. Sports and fellowship activities Sponsors the following sports & fellowship activities: • Bowling Tournament • Badminton Tournament • Christmas Bingo Social • Fun Run • National Credit Congress This is the culminating activity and the association’s participation in the yearly celebration of “National Credit Consciousness Week” held every April 24-30.

  16. Membership Fee:Annual Fee of Php7,000.00 *One-time entrance fee of Php2,000.00 * Annual membership fee entitles member to: - 10 account inquiries per month and in excess, a Php10.00 per account will be charge

GUIDELINES ON THE TREATMENT OF CMAP NEGATIVE DATA The Court Case, Returned Checks, Account a Referred to Lawyers and the Negative Data from the Telecom Companies merely provide lead information; they are not to be interpreted as a “BLACK LISTING” of accounts. The information is given with “STRICT CONFIDENCE” and without any responsibility on the part of CMAP. The extension of credit or any decision is determined in accordance with your own evaluation and judgment. The Court Case Data Files is a SERVICE provided by the Association to the members and gathered with good faith without liability for possible errors with procuring, collecting and communicating the information gathered. The law prohibits DISCLOSURE of any information related to loan application. Correction, amendments and updates of the files are disseminated to you. Please give them appropriate attention and update accordingly.

  19. GUIDELINES ON THE DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION The identity of the source of information deserves the same confidence as the information itself and should not be revealed to anyone including the subject inquiry. Violations of the principle of confidentiality will be ground for the following appropriate actions: 1. Warning Memo – first offense 2. Monetary Penalty of Php5,000 per disclosure – second offense 3. Revocation of right to inquire from the data base – third offense 4. Disaffiliation from the Association – fourth offense

  20. GUIDELINES ON UPDATING AND DELETION OF DATA Should the complainant be able to present verifiable evidence that his/her court case has been dismissed/settled/withdrawn and the CMAP Secretariat has verified it with the court, the following guidelines must be observed: De-list name from central database. Route via email or hand carried the list of the deleted name and members must do the same accordingly, and CMAP has no responsibility if member fails to update their own data base.

  21. REMINDERS • CMAP Negative Data Files merely provide lead information and not a “blacklisting of accounts. • It is gathered in good faith and provided by the Association as a service to its members. Accuracy of this listing is not guaranteed so members are requested to conduct actual verification on the status, history nature of the case and the identity of the applicants especially if it is a common name. • It does not constitute a recommendation or opinion in any manner by the association. The extension of credit or any decision is determined by the individual member in accordance with their own evaluation and judgment. • The information is given in strict confidence. The law prohibit disclosure of any information relative to loan application. The identity of the source of information deserves the same confidence as the information itself.
