  1. from the Manger to the Cross for the World The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48

  2. Sovereign King (vv 28-34) The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected…and be killed, and on the third day be raised. Luke 9:22 First he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Luke 17:25 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise. Luke 24:6 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory? Luke 24:26 Behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 9:30-31 The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48

  3. Prophesied Messiah (vv 35-38) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. Zechariah 14:4 25 Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the LORD. Psalm 118:25-26 The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48

  4. Divine Lord (vv 39-40, 44) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David… Luke 1:68-69 Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and "God has visited his people!" Luke 7:16 Behold, I send my messenger and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:1 The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48

  5. Compassionate Judge (vv 41-44) For the LORD will rise up as on Mount Perazim; as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused; to do his deed- strange is his deed! and to work his work- alien is his work! Isaiah 28:21 The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48

  6. Global Savior (vv 45-48) 48 “…You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." 50 Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple blessing God. Luke 24:48-53 The King Comes to Jerusalem Luke 19:28-48
