  2. How does a cell phone work? • Cell phones work by starting with the actual phone or “base station”. When the user tells the base station to send a message or make a call, the phone sends cells from one phone to another. It arrives at the correct other phone because the phone number that you put into your contacts list is actually the other phones frequency. When the message or call reaches the other phone, the other phone transforms the cells into the message that they see on their phone screen or the words they hear when we talk into the phone. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/products/P14761606.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Cell-Phones/912/cat.html&h=250&w=250&sz=32&tbnid=AjBeXteIlB0e-M:&tbnh=85&tbnw=85&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpictures%2Bof%2Bcell%2Bphones%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=pictures+of+cell+phones&usg=__49P8q111sFgUdvl3yGFnWSwgZsc=&docid=kbiGcyzCJ3MdeM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=prsrUajyH6Wq2gXo9YDgDw&sqi=2&ved=0CF0Q9QEwAA&dur=1657

  3. What type of wave does a cell phone use? • Cell phones use radio waves http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/radio/radio_waves.gif&imgrefurl=http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/radio/am_transmitter.html&h=480&w=640&sz=32&tbnid=0K6KXME5MAeqzM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=120&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpictures%2Bof%2Bradio%2Bwaves%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=pictures+of+radio+waves&usg=__i1WvClQ13DjQi_SrPSBChsmE8h8=&docid=kDxdZUIZrfsjuM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=hLgrUdT6JsGtqgGQlIHIAQ&ved=0CC8Q9QEwAA&dur=6673

  4. What causes cell phone interference? • Cell phone interference is caused by obstructions such as tunnels, canyons, subways, even trees and hills, and some older walls.

  5. Why does interference happen? • Interference happens when the signal can not get from your cell phone to the cell phone towers without being bent or distorted. This is why older walls that are made of plaster and canyons and subways have very poor cell phone reception.
