  26. Linköping University'senvironmental policy As a higher education institution, Linköping University has a responsibility to contribute to the development of a better environment and a society which is sustainable in the long-term. 27. 2 Linköping University believes that issues which affect the external environment also, in many cases, affect the internal environment and health issues. Consequently, health is included as something valuable to safeguard in the policy for environmental work which concerns the external environment. Through student education and research activities, Linköping University has a large potential to contribute towards long-term sustainable development. Therefore, students at the University will be given the opportunity and be encouraged to acquire sufficient knowledge so as to be able to contribute to environmental efforts at their future workplaces.
