  3. Audience and Goal The intended audience for this presentation is Cadet AEOs. The goal of this presentation is to inform you about the Aerospace Education Excellence program and how to utilize it within your Cadet AE program.

  4. Objectives By the end of this presentation you will: 1. Understand AE and AEX. 2. Know how to incorporate AEX into your AE program. 3. Be able to offer leadership roles to your flight staff. 4. Be prepared to join the AEX program next year.

  5. Understanding AE What is Aerospace Education?

  6. Aerospace Education • It has been found that flight, whether it is in the sky above, or the space beyond Earth, excites the imagination of children. (AEX II book)

  7. Aerospace Education • The pure science and technology of atmospheric and space flight is known as AEROSPACE. This combines the terms “aeronautics” and “space.” (AEX II book)

  8. Aerospace Education • AEROSPACE, either in isolated examples, or full curriculum units, has been found to make children actually WANT to learn more about science and technology. AEROSPACE as a learning incentive, WORKS! (AEX II book)

  9. What is AEX? Aerospace Education eXcellence

  10. Aerospace Education eXcellence • AEX offers hands-on learning activities to excite young people about aerospace. • AEX is offered to educators in local schools and CAP AEOs.

  11. AEX: Six & One! • Six activities out of twenty-one. • One Aerospace Education Field-Day Experience. • Send in reports telling us what you have done.

  12. Six AEX Activities • One per month from January to June. • 21 activities to choose from. • Indoor and outdoor activities. • Build something or solve problems. • Leadership opportunities. • Flight Sergeants, Flight Commanders, other cadet leaders.

  13. One AE Field-Day Experience • At least 2 ½ hours in length. • Airport Tour • Air Museum Tour • Rocket Launching Day • Space Day Program • Mars Day Program

AEX Advantages • Aerospace Education based. • Leadership opportunities for cadet staff. • Fills first 6 months of year with AE activities. • Great pairing with Model Rocketry in the fall. • Opportunity for an External AE Program. • Each participant receives an award. • Squadron receives a nice plaque.

  28. How to participate • Classroom teachers must enroll by October 31st. • CAP AEOs must enroll by December 31st. • Teachers have until the 15th of May to complete the requirements. • CAP Squadrons have until the 15th of July to complete the requirements.
