Why sustainability as a business model? • Upscale Ecotourism pioneer since 1992 “Rainforest wilderness adventure in a class by itself”. • Motivated by Costa Rica CST program to achieve 5 leaves. • Observation of the positive impact on the environment and the local community (e.g. Stanford study).

  5. Impact on the Local Community • Education of a local staff through on the job training and scholarships. • Year-round employment. • Building and support of local school and other surrounding rural schools. • No negative impacts such as drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution.

  6. Economic Sustainability • Annual Occupancy: 80+% (100% from Nov. to April) • Average Daily Rate: $350 • Annual Sales: 2.2 Mio US$ • The more we focus on sustainability, the more profitable we become.
