  2. 7・日本を再認識してみる 日本をめぐる一般的な誤解 • 日本は「単一民族国家」である • 先住民族の代表であるアイヌ、少数民族の代表である在日韓国・朝鮮人など複数のエスニック・マイノリティが暮らしている • 島国だから（ほぼ）ひとつの民族で、外からの攻撃から守られ平和だった • イギリス、ニュージーランド、フィリピンなどがそうであるとは言えない • 日本は「小さな島国」である • 世界の235国・地域の面積で大きい方から番目 • 日本は「周囲から切り離された島国」である • 見慣れた地図の向きを変えてみる　cf. Asia Map • 見慣れた地図では韓半島などが省略されるからそのように感じる
