  4. NUST DELIVERS CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING FURTHER OMD 2030 INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND AT: Hospitality training plays a major role in the OMD 2030 Tourism Strategy, which provides one of the pathways to ‘A unique town thriving on new possibilities.’ The message that participants would now like to deliver is: ‘Oranjemund is up and running.’ It is ready to welcome the world and provide visitors with a high quality customer service experience. Following on from their successful fact finding visit to Oranjemund in July, lecturers from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism at the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST) designed a three-day customer services training course specifically for the needs of Oranjemund residents. Seventy community members signed up for this course that was delivered by lecturers Gerald Cloete, Isobel Green and Alida Siebert at three different venues in the town from 16th to 18th October. Participants were very keen and enthusiastic and feedback at the end of the course was extremely positive. Participants were introduced to the concepts of Diamond Class service and how to be effective customer service providers. They also looked at effective communication techniques and how to deal with different types of customers. We would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the course and thank the lecturers for all their efforts. Many participants had to take leave from work to attend this valuable training, and everyone gave up time over a weekend to ensure that it was a success.
