  2. 1. Background The finalpurpose of thecapacityboughtbyNetwork Usersisto be used(nominated) bythem. Therefore, whendaily and with-dayauctionswill be implemented, nominationand renominationprocesseshaveto be accordinglyadapted. Nevertheless, thisadaptationnotonlymeansto introduce additionalrenominationcyclesbutalsoharmonisationof gas dayperiod, combustionreferencetemperature and automatic data exchange. Gas Day Period Historicallyadjacentcountrieshaveestablisheddifferent gas dayperiods.Therefore, TSOs and Network Usershavedealedwiththissituationduringthenomination/renomination and matchingprocess. Ifadditionalrenominationcycles are implemented, therenominationdeadlines are frequentlyestablishedwithreferencetothe gas dayperiod. Consequently, ifthe gas dayperiodisdifferentin eachborder of the IP, thenrenominationdeadlineswill be different as well. COUNTRYA COUNTRYB • Gas dayperiodfrom 5 to5 UTC • Firstrenominationcyclestartswiththestarting of the gas day Firstrenominationcycle=5 UTC • Gas dayperiodfrom 23 to 23 UTC • Firstrenominationcyclestartswiththestarting of the gas day Firstrenominationcycle=23 UTC Accordingtothisexample, nomatchingprocess can be performeduntilthefirstcommonrenominationdeadline. Therefore, until 5 UTC, renominationcycles of country B are uselessbecauseno nomination in country A has beensentyet.
