Goals • Efficient, low cost transfers of funds • “End to End” network design of donation packets based on Internet model • Integrate physical and social networks • Photo-exchange to personalize, audit transaction • Donor instructions and feedback via web and email • Built-in reputation system • Less than 5% transaction fee, any size transaction

Basic Model • Donor makes PayPal donation and instructions, personal photo via web page. • GivingSpace transfers to Trustee’s account (NGO or other local organization) • Trustee gets email, withdraws donation with debit card • Trustee follows donor’s instructions • Trustee takes photo of delivery of donation, including the donor’s letter photo • Donor rates trustee’s performance

Making Donation • Donor finds web page • If not already registered, signs up with PayPal (checking account linkage earns $5 bonus which may be used for first donation) • Chooses opportunity, Optionally submits photo • Reviews transaction, costs • Commits to donation • Gets receipt from PayPal, tracking URL • Gets photo confirmation of gift being delivered, with original donor letter in the image. • Rates all participants in the chain of trust • All costs are visible

Adding New Trustee • Trustee must have access to email, Web, digital camera, and ATM • Registers via web page • GivingSpace accepts, opens trustee account • Mails Debit card to Trustee • Trustee registers card, PIN via web • GivingSpace opens up card • Trustee is listed on GivingSpace web site as acceptable trustee • Trustee lists opportunities to give

Photo Exchange • Personalizes donation, thank you note • Overcomes language, literacy barriers • Provides positive reinforcement of gift • Provides audit trail • Still an issue about “cut and pasting” images • May include cryptographic bar code • Donor purchases of photos could pay for digital camera, Internet costs • Could create local “photopreneurs”
