  1. Prokaryote or Eukaryote?

  2. Smaller than plant or animal cells • May have flagella- used for movement • Prokaryote- • no nucleus • DNA scattered throughout the cytoplasm Bacteria The most numerous organism on the entire planet. There are more bacteria in your mouth than there are people living on Earth Have a cell wall and cell membrane • Classified by shape: spherical, rodlike, spiral

  3. Salmonella bacteria Bacteria Streptococcus Lyme disease bacteria

  4. Yeah For Bacteria! • Ochobactrum anthropi used to help clean up oil spills • Archaebacteria died millions of years ago producing methane, a part of natural gas • Used in production of buttermilk, yogurt and cheeses • Decomposers- recycling Earth’s matter • Nitrogen fixing bacteria in plants like peanuts and soybeans that help the plant use the nitrogen it needs to grow

  5. Bad Bacteria! Bacteria such as Staphylococci which causes staph infections and Streptococciwhich causes Strep Throat cause bacterial infections. Lobar pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis are caused by bad bacteria. infections…..infections…..infections! Most bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics, however overuse of antibiotics have caused bacteria to become resistant to the drugs. 7. Euglena moving with a flagellum

  8. Amoeba moving with pseudopods
