Code of Hammurabi – 1792 BC • Page 5 in handout • Simply stated laws (282 total) • Clear punishments • Read 6 laws from handout • What can you infer about lives of people from higher classes? • Thought to be of greater value • Do you believe that knowing the severity of the punishments might prevent people from breaking the law?
