  1. Welcome to back-to-school night

  2. Who am I? I am a mom of three very active children. I am a Penn State Graduate, and Blue Band Alumni. I am a 20 year teaching veteran.

  3. Course overview On the first day of school the students were provided with a course overview. For purposes of conservation, I have not recopied the overview… if you would like a personal copy it is available on my website posted under the Back-to-School Night section.

  4. Topics covered We will focus on the first four units in the textbook: Water: Exploring Solutions Materials: Structure and Uses Petroleum: Breaking and Making Bonds Air: Chemistry and the Atmosphere

  5. Important Class Conduct Policies The student handbook outlines several policies about dress code, lateness, etc. These will be followed accordingly. Policies regarding absence are also thoroughly outlined. Some Important thoughts: Labs Tests / Reviews Other Late Work

  6. Grading Policy The grading policy, including penalties, the types of assignments experienced, etc. are thoroughly outlined in the course overview. Some Important Thoughts: 60% of the grade is derived from “assessments” Writing Assignments Extra Credit Rules Academic Integrity Council Rock Assessment
