MMSDC Overview • A non-profit corporate service organization • The largest of 36 councils in the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. • Over 30 years has connected some of Michigan’s largest corporations with certified minority owned businesses-A catalyst for mutual business success • Supports future economic growth in communities • Raises the bar in supplier diversity • Through certification, assures the corporation buyer that a business is truly minority owned, operated and controlled.

  5. National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) The goal of the NMSDC is to assist bona-fide minority businesses in becoming long-term, qualified entities capable of competing in the national and international economic mainstream

  7. MMSDC Certification MBE Certification is an affirmation or validation that an applicant’s business is owned, controlled and managed by U.S. citizens, a majority (at least 51%) of whom are racial or ethnic minorities

Applicants Responsibility • It is not the responsibility of the certification committee or process to prove a business applicant is not qualified for NMSDC certification, but rather the responsibility of the applicant to prove his/her/their business meets the requirements for NMSDC certification.

Certification Process • Applicant attends Pre-Certification Briefing • Applicant obtains certification application • Applicant submits application, checklist and processing fee • Site visit appointment scheduled • Site visit completed • Certification Committee review of application • Executive Board approval • Approval letter and invoice emailed • Invoice fee received • Certificate, welcome letter & emailed
