That is the capital of the Kreis Olpe in Westfalen, Germany, * 100 km at the east of Cologne Our familyname Weber is still known today because our family was occupied with the metal industry for many years. The people of Olpe is know as “Pannenklöppers”

Our ancestor lived also at Stachelauer Hütte Stachelau and Stachelauer Hütte became part of the city Olpe In this part of Sauerland, the land with 1000 mountains, have always been a lot of mines. At Stachelauer Hütte they treated minerals from the neighbourhood, mostly copper, opposite from the surrounded places where they used mostly iron.. The mine Grube Rhonard, at the Rhonard-mountain was well-known.

  13. 1600 1648 – Peace of Westfalen At Olpe Johann Weuer died at 1670, married to Backhaus. Johann was Citizen at Olpe, known as "Kesselschmied" She is a daughter of Backhaus. Their son Johannes Weber died at Olpe in 1701 He was married to Elisabeth Winter who died at Olpe in 1674. He married later Elisabeth Hamer (died at Olpe in 1721) Johann was Citizen at Olpe, Gewerke and Reidemeister. They have a son Jacob Weber in Olpe (1675-1735) He married Anna Maria Liese (1675-1728), later Gertrud Reinen Jacob was citizen at Olpe, Gewerke, Reidemeister, Kesselschmied and owner of the Hütte and Hammer at Olpe The family von Brabeck at Letmathe became owner at the coppermine in the Rhonard Stachelauer Hütte and the Rhonard mine are property of the Prince-Bischop of Cologne 1684: the Kupferbergwerk "Rhonard" at Olpe was left by the Electors of Cologne to Jobst Edmund von Brabeck from Hildesheim (not far from Hannover) At high age Jobst Edmund became Fürstbischof of Hildesheim 1682 Freiherr Jobst Edmund von Brabeck started the Eisenwerk Kunigunde in Dörnten by Goslar That is about 40 km from Hildesheim Johann Arnold von Brabeck († 16-1-1720) Inherited it

  15. 1700 Jobst Edmund von Brabeck-Letmathe († 1767), x Maria Felizitas von Kerkering-Stapel († 1775). Johann Jakob II Weber, Olpe 1708-1782, married Anna Maria Hengstebeck °1718 in Olpe. He was Mayor at Olpe in 1757 and 1769 and owned the "Eisenhütte" by Neuenkleusheim and the "Bergwerke" bij Elpertshagen and Zenker. He transferred 9 oktober 1747 these Eisenhütte to Olpe: Dohmerhütte or Olperhütte. These Hütte was property of the Freiherrn von Fürstenberg in 1751. Later the Hütte with Hammer was half property of Freiherrn von Brabeck and half of Johann Bernard Weber from Stachelau. He used the iron-minerals out of the Rhonard-mine, from Elben and also from the far away Wintert by Friesenhagen in Wildenburg (from Counts von Hatzfeld) The cast Iron plate with the madonna was fabricated in 1741 at Stachelauer Hütte (140 x 86 cm) for them. 1730 Eisenwerk Kunigunde stopped. 1741 to remember the shutting down, the Madonna is transferred to Kunigunde In 1754 Moritz von Brabeck build a big house for the "Faktor". 7-year war 1756-1763 His son Johann Bernhard Weber (1740-1795) married Maria Elisabeth Wacker (° Olpe 1747) He lived at Olpe, became mayor and since 1775 also Faktor and Accountant of the Hütte at Stachelau His wife is the daughter of Johann Georg WACKER,citizen at Olpe and Reidemeister at Stachelau. Wilhelm Heinrich HALBERSTADT (1750-1820) Married Maria Katherina Adams (1750-1777) He was “master forester" en "Schultheiss“ at Wildenburg with the Counts von HATZFELD. 1792 Peter Ludwig Anton Hengstebeck the priest of Olpe hold a Holy Mass at the private chapel of the factory building in Stachelauer Hütte. He was longtime ill and is living here..He is the brother of Anna Maria Hengstebeck

(Cutting of the hair as a student) Johann Bernhard Weber Lived at Olpe and died 4 weeks before the big city-fire at Olpe. His widow WEBER build a new house at the Westfälische Strasse nr. 29 Widow "Faktor"-Weber sold her house 1821 to the city Olpe who used it as city-hall. The "Weber“-house, next to the postoffice, became since 28-3-1849 the seat of justice of the Kreis Olpe. Before the fire at 1795 he lived at Felmicke. After the fire he build a house in the Frankfurter Strasse nr 15. The house “Voskes”) with mansarde-roof was build using old stones of the city-wall that mostly disappeared. It is build next to the Kreisständehaus. Next owners: first the son in law of his brother, lawyer Pfeiffer B.W.Jozef from Siegen, next to his widow, later Ludwig Hundt, then op 26-5-1871 Anton Gastreich (for 4.100 taler). 1811: New rules for the city counsil, and of the hegenomy of the county-kings "Landesfürsten". The city council was nomineted every year by the gouvernment. Composition: a president, the Schultheiß and 4 councillors of the city. 1820 : the new name of the city mayor: Amtman. 27-7-1828 he sold the field at the Imberg at the St. Sebastianus-shooting union for 84 Thaler 28-11-1818 renewal of the prohibition of burrials inside the church by Stadtschutheiss Weber

He was "Faktor", nominated by the counts "von Brabeck" later co-owner of the "Hütten" at Wissen and Olpe under his vader. He came 1796 to Stachelau and had also the steelforgerys at Latrop and Fleckenberg, After 1800 also the "Stahlhammer" (raw steelforgery) with 2 fires at Schmallenberg. He bought in 1809 the high furnnace of Stachelau that he supervised from the owners and partners: the counts von Brabeck. When he died, a debt of 2000 thaler had to be payed. The hütte of Olpe and Wissen were sold. Only the Stachelauer hütte remained in the hands oft the Weber family. Production of 1 year: 1850: ± 20.000 zentner minerals. 19 workers were still employed.. Since 1860 all the installations at Stachelauer Hütte have been sold. It has been removed before 1900, There is build a new chapel at Stachelau the Elisabeth chapel, inaugurated in 1903.   34. Madonna in cast iron at the Elisabethchapel at Stachelau In Kunigunde, a part of Dörnten is an older building of a “Eisenhütte” which belonged also to the Counts von Brabeck. Above the entrance-door you can see exact the same Madonna as at Stachelau. The building is also similar and is still existing.

  36. WEBER Christian August Ignatz was "Gewerke" and owner of the high furnace and mining company at Stachelauer Hütte. Studiet mine-technology at Gießen. Was for 1 year "Pionier" (soldier, sapper) in Luxemburg Was working at metalurgical company’s at Saarbrücken, Düren (firma Hoesch) and during 3 years at high furnace at Dassel (Solling). From 1840 until 1870 the Olper Hütte was property of the Kreutz-company. At 1884 bought Anton Sapp from Fredeburg the Hütte and rented it at Ruegenberg. 1885-1900: Olper Metallwerke GMBH, became property of SAPP. 1901 the company was bought by Gustav Imhäuser At 1961 the big house of "Faktor" WEBER in Stachelau was broken down to build the new road B 50. The stones of the house have been used for the restauration of the tower at the south of the city (Price: 22.500 DM).

  40. In 1823 werd het eerste “Nederlanse” stoomschip gebouwd, de machines werden geleverd door John Cockerill. Dit schip, de Nederlander, voer tussen Antwerpen en Rotterdam In 1825 begon John Cockerill aan de bouw van nieuwe hoogovens die met cokes werkten. De ijzerproktie steeg vlug tot 10 ton per dag. Luik krijgt een rol in de wereldeconomie. Na 1825 werd onder Willem I, een volledige hoogoven volgens dit nieuw procèdé op cokes, geleverd aan Japan. 1843: aanleg spoorlijn naar Keulen

Die alte Stachelauer Kapelle was op dezelfde manier gebouwd als de kapel van Lüttringhausen en had de volgende afmetingen: 26 voet lang = 8,16 m17 voet breed = 5,49 m12 voet hoog = 3,76 m(Voet = oude Pruissische maat = 31,385 cm) De Kapel en de ijzeren plaat met de madonna werden in 1845 ingewijd.De twee kapellen werden gebouwd met breukstenen en met kalk aangesmeerden gewit. Ze waren zeer gelijkaardig, ze hadden 4 vensters en 1 deur.
