  3. PRAHOVA COUNTY Prahova County is located at the south of the Carpathians. Ploiesti, the head of the department is located at 60 km from Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Prahova’s relief features are varied and include all forms.

SOUTH-MUNTENIA REGION The South-Muntenia Region is one of the 8 development regions in Romania, alongside of North-East, South Muntenia, South West Oltenia, West, North-West, Center and Bucharest - Ilfov. Each development region includes the territories of several counties, geographically related, and it is formed on the basis of agreements concluded between the representatives of county councils.

  7. SOUTH-MUNTENIA REGION The development region South Muntenia includes 7 counties: Arges, Calarasi, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Prahova and Teleorman.

  8. SOUTH-MUNTENIA REGION Total area : 34.453 km2(14,45% of the total area of Romania) Includes 7 counties with 28 cities (of which 15 municipalities), with 481 communes and 1552 villages. The region is located in the South of Romania. The region territory has 3 relief features, structured as follows: plain 70.7%, 19.8% hill and 9.5% mountain. Total Population : 3.379.406 inhabitants out of which Prahova’s population represents 24% Density : 101,2 inhabitants / km2 Degree of urbanization : 41,7%

PRAHOVA COUNTY - HISTORY Prahova is the core of the Romanian oil industry, Ploiesti being the capital of all activitiesrelated to oil in Romania and one of the most important technological and petrochemical research and educational center in the world. Prahova County has 4 oil refineries, out of which3of them are in Ploiesti.

PRAHOVA COUNTY - HISTORY • the first oil refinery in the world – the Mehedintianu Refinery • Romania – the first country in the world with a 275 tons of crude oil production in 1857 ( as confirmed in the British Oil Encyclopedia from 1938) • Bucharest – the first city in the world gas-lightened, with gas provided by oil wells from Prahova.

DEFINITION AND HISTORY • The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prahova is a non-governmental organization of public use, autonomous, meant to promote and develop the economy of the Prahova County both on the domestic market and overseas and to support the local business community in its relation with the internal authorities and the specialized organizations abroad. • The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prahova is carrying on its activity according to the Law no.335/2007 and it has been established by Government Decree in 1990, continuing the tradition of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ploiesti set up in 1865 and dissolved in 1949.

CCIPH REPRESENTATIVE IN SHANGHAI The representative office started its activity in February 2011. The primary role of the representative office of CCI Prahova in Shanghai is to support the interests of the Romanian companies on the Chinese market, to provide information, to disseminate business opportunities and to facilitate trade and bilateral cooperation. CCIPH REPRESENTATIVE IN MOSCOW In October 2011 started its activity in Moscow the Representative office of CCI Prahova in the Russian Federation. The purpose of the representation is to support all the initiatives of economic and commercial cooperation between Romanian and Russian companies, in order to facilitate bilateral investments and economic exchanges.
