  2. Magician Facts • Some magicians used magic for ma’at, or in other words, good. Others used magic for chaos and destruction. • It is said that Ra gave us magic so we could protect ourselves. • The Book of the Dead contained nearly 200 magic spells. • The ancient Egyptian priests were the main magicians and practitioners of magic in Egypt.

More Magical Facts • The word magic is “heka” in Egyptian. • All deities and people were thought to have magic in some way. • Lector priests performed magical rituals to protect their kings. • Ancient Egyptian magic was more ancient and more powerful than the gods themselves. • All magicians wereexpected to master the staff and wand.

  4. The Future • Being a diviner wasa rare gift. • Diviners could also tell the future. • They used magic for religious and practical purposes. • Magic was a real and potent force to the ancient Egyptians. • Magic was essential after death for a safe passage through the afterlife.
