Current & Future WorkAerodynamics & Aeroacoustics • Current work: • Aerodynamics • Improved fidelity of unsteady wake model • Tower influence • Aeroacoustics • Wind tunnel test at Virginia Tech (reduced) • CFD, CAA & Propagation codes from Penn State (reduced) • Future plans (2 years out): • Rewrite AeroDyn – make modular, provide hooks for other aerodynamic models • Validation using wind tunnel & field measurements • Tower shadow noise model • Future Opportunities: • Wind tunnel tests • Field testing • Improve codes: • Aerodynamics – free-vortex and CFD methods • Aeroacoustics – CAA prediction for tower shadow and tip noise Uzun et al., 2006 CFD of blade tip vortex
