  1. Welcome! Nashville Elementary Kindergarten Mrs. Viverette’s& Mrs. Bissette’sClass

  2. Important Information • Please remember to check in at the front office before coming to the classroom. • Our learning time is limited for the day so please have your child at school on time. • The school day will begin at 8:15 a.m. • The tardy bell will ring at 8:15 a.m. • Buzzer system enforced after 8:15 a.m. • Make sure to discuss any medications your child has with the nurse and teacher. • Students need to be prepared with all supplies • Materials will be labeled at school

  3. Transportation • For the first two weeks of school your child will wear a name tag displaying how he/she gets to and from school. Please make sure to send this back daily to ensure they get home safely! • If for any reason his/her transportation plans change for the day or longer, we must have a signed note from the parent or guardian stating the changes.

  4. Snack & Lunch • Each day we will have snack in the afternoon due to our early lunch. • Please remember to send your child a healthy snack & water or juice, as they will not be provided. • Please no candy or soda. • Breakfast & Lunch are available for students. If you would like to pre-pay please use the provided lunch envelopes to do so. • *Also: • Students must learn their lunch numbers, which will be sent home in their folders. • No microwaves are available for student use due to safety reasons.

  5. Specials • Please refer to the monthly newsletter for the specials schedule. • Specials are on a six day rotation • Library - help your child remember to return their library book. • P.E - Please remember that your child must wear tennis shoes to ensure they are able to participate.

  6. Classroom Management • We use a “Tier Method” as our positive behavior system. • Please refer to our class website to review this behavior system.

  7. Reward System “Punch Cards” • Students will receive punches for positive behavior. • Students will receive a reward once all 20 punches are received. • Contribute to the classroom treasure box are needed to make this successful.

  8. Behavior Report • A “Monthly Behavior Report” in your student’s folder. This report will show you if any incidences have occurred during the school day. • Please initial this report daily. • Your help is needed and appreciated to maintain a safe and happy learning environment! Please take the time to talk with your child if any misbehavior occurs.

  9. Take-Home Folders • Your child will be given a take-home folder. • The left pocket is labeled “Left at Home”. • This is for the papers and forms that are to be kept at home and do not need to be returned. • The right pocket is labeled “Right Back”. • This is for any papers that are to be reviewed by the parent or guardian and returned to school the next day.

  10. Agendas • Your child will be given an agenda. • Communication log • Homework log

  11. Please work with your child on the following… The following items are suggestions to review with your child. Of course we will be learning them in the classroom, but extra help is always great! • Tying shoes • Writing his/her name (This is very important, as they must do this on each paper.) • Alphabet • Numbers (0-20) …we will learn to count to 100, too!

  12. Student Information • Please make sure to turn in any needed paperwork for your child as soon as possible. This is very important for our record and in the case of medical conditions. • Shot records • Health Form • Lunch Applications

  13. Volunteers • I hope that you will be able to participate in the many events that we hold throughout the year. As always, we love to have parents involved in and outside of the classroom. For the safety of the students there is a required background check and TB skin test screening that must be completed and turned in before anyone can volunteer with a class. • If you wish to volunteer, please fill out the necessary form. The TB skin test can be done through the Nash County Health Department for $11.00. • Chaperoning field trips, working independently with students, etc.

  14. Keeping You Informed… • Communication is very important! • Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at elviverette@nrms.k12.nc.us, by phone at (252) 451-2877, or through a note. • Also, I plan to send home a monthly newsletter so that you are well informed and up to date on what we are learning in the classroom. This will give you the opportunity to provide additional help for your child.

  15. Remind 101 • Parents will receive text reminders from the teacher concerning class and school information. • To receive messages via text, text @mrsviverto (252)677-7459. • You may opt-out of messages at anytime by replying ‘unsubscribe @mrsviver’.
