Monterey,CA,September 14,2015–The3rdAnnualCIGInsurance CommunitySafetySaturday™isexpanding and moving totheMontereyCountyFair&Event Centerlocated at2004FairgroundRoadinMonterey.Thisimportantandfreefamily-friendly,communitysafetyevent willbeheld onOctober10,2015from10:00a.m.to2:00p.m. CIGInsurance CommunitySafetySaturday™,whichwasdeveloped byCIG in2010and hasbeenheldthroughout California,Nevada,and Washington,featuresactivities,demonstrations, and educationalservices designed toimprovethesafetyand securityofchildren,teens,families and communities.Peopleofall ageswill enjoyfreegames,prizes,foodand awealthofsafetymaterialsand resourcesfrommanydifferentboothsstaffed by localand regionalorganizations. L.Arnold Chatterton,President and CEOofCapitalInsuranceGroup,remarks,“Wearevery excited tohold our CommunitySafetySaturdayevent attheMontereyCountyFair&Event Center.Wemayneverknowhowmanypeoplewetouchwiththisimportantinformation.But wedoknowthatthesafetyinformationand toolsweprovideattheseeventstrulyempowerparents.Ifour effortsresultinonelesstragicstoryofachild injured whileriding inacarbecauseofafaultyorimproperlyinstalled childcarsafetyseat,oronelesstragicstoryofachildgonemissing,oronelesstragicstoryofateenkilledinacarcrash,thenwearethankful.” Oneofthemost importantfeaturesofCommunitySafetySaturdayisafreechildcar-seat safety inspection stationoperated bythe California HighwayPatrol. Nationalstudiesreveal that80to90percentofchildrenarenot properlyrestrainedwhen inavehicle,andmany localcar-seat check pointsreport that95percent ofcarseatsareinstalled incorrectly.AtCommunitySafetySaturday,expert technicianswill checkforproper installationandgiveparentsandcaregivers critical informationabout installing carseatscorrectlyfortheirparticularchild and vehicle. The CHP will alsoprovideinformationand take signupsfor itsStart Smartteen drivereducationclasses.Start Smart classesincrease traffic-safetyknowledgeand betterprepareteensfortheroadahead.The CHP will also bring informationabout theImpactTeenDriverprogramaswell astalktoteensand parentsabout thedangersofdistracted driving. AnothermainattractionwillbetheKlaasKidsFoundationPrint-A-Thon,afreeserviceprovidingdigitalphotoIDand fingerprinting foreverychild.ParentsreceiveafreeDNAcollectionkit,childsafety tips,and a9-point planonwhattodoiftheirchild disappears.KlaasKidsFoundationisanonprofit organization whosemissionis tostopcrimesagainstchildren byproviding educationandknowledgetothegeneral public,and bypromoting partnershipswithconcernedcitizens,theprivatesector,organizations,lawenforcement and legislators.MarcKlaas, whosedaughterPollywasabducted in1993,advises,“Thebest way toavoid victimization isthrougheducationandknowledge.”Marcandhiswife will personallyattend CommunitySafetySaturdaytoconduct the
