Who should be removed, in what order ? • Beggars & “dirty” jobs (toilet cleaners, washing the dead for burial) • Rulers & fighters (government, army, police) Skilled workers (craftsmen/ farmers/ business men) • Unskilled general workers (factory, farm help) • Priests & Teachers Write out the castes and give an example of each one. • BRAHMINS – priestly/ teacher caste • KSHATRIYA – warrior/ ruler caste • VAISHYA – skilled workers caste • SHUDRAS – unskilled workers caste • DALITS – untouchables/ outcaste

TASK 1 • Read through all the information • Write a list of all the duties and main beliefs about that caste on the A3 recording sheet. • Include anything else you find interesting. • You must work as a group. You have 10 mins. • TASK 2 • Nominate four pupils in your group to go • and visit each of the other groups. • They must note down • 3 facts about that caste (their duties or beliefs about that caste) • One extra bit of interesting info • Remember to find out the most • important facts about the caste you visit. You have 10 mins. TASK 3 Return to your original group and in turns share your findings to complete the mapping sheet about the Hindu caste system. Fix this sheet into your Book. You have 10 mins
