  2. IMPORTANCE OF SMS COMPONENT Why SMS? • EAC internet users 25mil and Mobile users are about 40Mil. • In Tanzania only 13% have access to Internet while 65% are mobile subscribers.

  3. The System Coordinator monitors the system by reading or updating its information remotely through internet. SMS Alert to NTB Coordinator for every new reported case. Tracking Code and Progress Status of the Complained cases is sent back to Subscribers. Exporter sends a complaint via SMS to short code 15XXX Stakeholders access the information through their terminal equipments (e.g. Computers or Mobile devices) Coordinator monitors NTB system via local Channels. (i.e. LAN or Printed reports) Online NTB Monitoring & Tracking Database System NTB SMS Component acknowledges and sends feedback to complainant. Wireless mobile operators re-routes the SMSs to the focal point. The Monitoring Platform shares the information over the internet to only the authorized parties. Reported cases are submitted to the NTBs Database System NTB SMS Reporting Component

Objectives & Benefits of the System • Objectives • To enable private sector to report, monitor and use information as evidence to advocate for the removal of NTBs. • To become a tool for policy makers in  analyzing and understanding the extent and scope of NTBs encountered • Benefits: • The business community is informed of the procedures of reporting NTBs • Cost effective means of reporting and monitoring NTBs • Time saving means of NTBs reporting • Traders/users are able to track the progress of the reported case • Ease the process of NTBs elimination
