  2. WHAT IS CLIL? • Teaching a curricular subject through the medium of a language other than that normally used • Learning through languages

  3. ČO JE CLIL? • Vyučovanie školského predmetu v jazyku odlišnom od bežne používaného jazyka • Štúdium v cudzom jazyku

  4. CLIL SCENARIOS • Immersion programs in bilingual or multilingual communities • Foreign Language classrooms in search for a context • One or more content subjects taught through the medium of a foreign language

  5. CLIL SCENÁRE • Vstavané programy v dvoj- alebo viacjazyčných komunitách • Hľadanie súvislostí v cudzojazyčných triedach • Jeden alebo viac predmetov vyučovaných prostredníctvom cudzieho jazyka

BENEFITS OF CLIL • Develops intercultural communication skills • Builds intercultural knowledge and understanding • Improves language competence and oral communication skills • Develops multilingual interests and attitudes • Does not require extra teaching hours • Increases learners´ motivation and confidence

OUR SCHOOL/ LOCATION AND PROFILE • Our school is large school near the centre of town and the river Nitra • Over 400 students and 43 teachers • In addition to normal Slovak classess we have 9 classes specialize in teaching foreign Language – bilingual ( English and German) and 1 teaching content through English • Special emphasis on teaching computer skills to all the different classes

NAŠA ŠKOLA/MIESTO A PROFIL • Naša škola je veľká v blízkosti centra mesta a rieky Nitra • Viac ako 400 žiakov a 43 učiteľov • Okrem klasických tried máme 9 tried špecializovaných na cudzie jazyky – bilingválne (anglické a nemecké) a jednu triedu s vyučovaním metódou CLIL • Špeciálny dôraz na vyučovanie počítačových zručností

  12. CLIL AT OUR SCHOOL • We start CLIL lessons on the 1st grade • We use language for learning as well as for communication • Our lessons combine the following elements: - content - communication - cognition - culture

  13. CLIL NA NAŠEJ ŠKOLE • Začíname vyučovať CLIL metódou na 1. stupni • Jazyk používame k štúdiu, ako aj ku komunikácii • Vyučovacie hodiny kombinujú prvky z nasledujúcich možností: - obsah - komunikácia - poznávanie - kultúra

STAFF • Our staff consists of 4 teachers • All teacher studied or study English at University • 2 teachers are teaching content through English • We meet once or twice a month to discuss either the everyday school work or bigger issues, like the curriculum • In our English team we have one team leader who is responsible for reporting our actions to the headmaster

KOLEKTÍV • Náš kolektív sa skladá zo štyroch učiteľov • Všetci študovali alebo študujú anglický jazyk na univerzite • Dvaja učitelia vyučujú metódou CLIL • Stretávame sa raz alebo dvakrát do mesiaca, aby sme sa porozprávali o každodennej práci v škole alebo o učebnom pláne • V našej skupine angličtinárov máme vedúceho skupiny, ktorý je zodpovedný za podanie správy o výučbe riaditeľke školy

  16. Children learn to read and write in both Slovak and English • English is used in Maths and Natural Science • Teachers often use English when communicating with the children • However, children are given the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings in Slovak if necessary

  17. Deti sa učia čítať a písať v slovenskom aj v anglickom jazyku • Angličtina je používaná na Matematike a Prírodovede • Učitelia často používajú angličtinu v komunikácii s deťmi • Deti majú možnosť sa vyjadriť aj po slovensky ak je to nutné

  19. AKTIVITY NA POČÚVANIE • Počúvaj a označ obrázok • Počúvaj a vyplň tabuľku • Počúvaj a identifikuj polohu • Počúvaj a doplň do textu

  20. SPEAKING ACTIVITIES • Questions and answers, terms and definitions • Information gap activities • Word guessing games • Class surveys and questionnaires
