  1. 3MR Mean, Median, Mode & Range

  2. MEAN

  3. MEAN Mean = Average To Find the average of a group of #s __________________________________________________ Steps: • Put all #s in order (small to lg) • Add all #s • Divide by # of #s

  4. MEAN E.x. 40, 52, 38, 42, and 38 • 38, 38, 40, 42, 52 • 38 + 38 + 40 + 42 + 52 = • 210 ÷ 5 = Mean = 42

  5. MEDIAN

  6. MEDIAN Median = Middle To find the middle # of a group of #s __________________________________________________ Steps: • Put all #s in order (small to lg) • Count from outsides in to middle **IF two middle #s present, find average (add, divide by 2)

  7. MEDIAN E.x. 7, 3, 8, 2, 4, 2, 2 • 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 • Count from outsides in to middle Median = 3

  8. MODE

  9. MODE MODE = Most Repeated To Find the # most often repeated in a group of #s __________________________________________________ Steps: • Put all #s in order (small to lg) • Name most often repeated # ** there may be NONE or MORE THAN ONE

  10. MODE E.x. 5, 8, 4, 3, 8, 7, 10, 4 • 3, 4, 4, 5, 7, 8, 8, 10 • Name the mode(s) Mode = 4 and 8

  11. RANGE

  12. RANGE RANGE = biggest # minus smallest # Find the distance between the highest and lowest #s _______________________________________________ Steps: • Put all #s in order (small to lg) • Biggest # – smallest #

  13. RANGE E.x. 5, 9, 4, 2, 9, 5, 8, 2, 5 • 2, 2, 4, 5, 5, 5, 8, 9, 9 • 9 – 2 = Range = 7

  14. Practice Find 3MR for the following set of numbers: • 20, 1, 18, 19, 2 Mean = Median = Mode = Range = • 45, 48, 41, 50, 70, 50 Mean = Median = Mode = Range =
