  2. USCIS Overview USCIS has 84 field offices in the United States. We administer the Immigration and Nationality Act within the United States. USCIS employees have no arrest authority. We are the only customer service agency within DHS.

  3. Provide Information to Customers USCIS sees 9,500 customers to answer questions, provide forms & resolve problems USCIS’ toll-free call center takes 44,000 calls www.uscis.gov receives 250,000 “hits”

  4. Grant Immigration Benefits USCIS conducts interviews for green cards, citizenship, and other immigration benefits USCIS welcomes 3,200 new citizens and 2,400 new permanent residents Five Service Centers decide cases where a face-to-face interview is not required

  5. USCIS produces educational materials and hosts hundreds of outreach events each year to help immigrants assimilate and prepare for U.S. citizenship Promote Awareness of Citizenship Quick Civics Lessons Civics Flash Cards

  6. Ensure Integrity of Immigration System USCIS conducts 148,000 national security background checks 129 Application Support Centers perform 15,000 fingerprint checks
