  2. 2 Types of Adaptations • Physical • are body structures that allow an animal to find and consume food, defend itself, and to reproduce its species. • Do not develop during one lifetime, but over many generations • Behavioral • Allow animals to respond to life’s needs, a.k.a. their actions • Each organism has unique methods of adapting to its environment by means of different actions.

  3. Physical Adaptations • Camouflage • Mimicry • Chemical Defenses • Venom/Odor • Body coverings & parts (claws, beaks, feet, armor plates, skulls, teeth)
