Arms Slow Down • By the early 1990’s the Cold War was over and the need to battle the “evil” Russian would not be a national priority. • During the Cold War defense industries became the largest industries in America. • After CW theses industries laid off workers, this led to a national recession

  4. Wealth Gap • “Trickle Down” economics of the 1980’s made the rich richer and the poor poorer. • Corporate mergers • Junk Bonds • Saving and Loan Scandal • Outsourcing of Jobs • The business tactics of the era made a lifestyle out of money making( Yuppies)

  5. 1992 Election • William Jefferson Clinton was Governor of Arkansas. • Related to the MTV generation. • Also in the race: Billionaire Ross Perot, created his own party( Reform). • Bush was out of place and distant • Clinton wins election but does not win with majority. Al Gore Vice President
