  4. Note: • The term ‘Appositive’ has to do with ‘position’ because an appositive is literally placed near to the noun or pronoun it identifies or explains. • The Appositive and the word it modifies are like two sides of a name tag.

  5. Appositive Phrase – consists of an appositive and its modifiers Appositive phrases usually follow the word it describes or identifies it, but may precede it. Examples: Mr. schumacher, a fun teacher, is a grammar guru. A former pop star, Michael jackson still makes news.
