  8. 何西阿書的背景 • 『何西阿 הושׁע』意義是『拯救』salvation • 何西阿在烏西雅、約坦、亞哈斯、希西家作猶大王，約阿施的兒子耶羅波安作以色列王的時候 (753-715 B.C.) 作先知, 是神所差遣在北國亡國前發預言的最後一位先知。 • 何西阿先知順服神娶了不貞的妻子,來顯明神對靈性不貞的以色列民仍有永遠不變的愛和憐憫。 • 神從盟約的愛所發出來的管教懲罰乃是為了帶來醫治、恢復和重新立約, 但神容許我們有自由意志來決定是否接納和回應祂的愛和恩典。

Betrothal in ancient Israel was much more binding than engagement is in contemporary Western society. The Law treated a betrothed couple as though they were legally married .

For I am God, and not a man— the Holy One among you. I will not come against their cities.

Bow and sword and battleI will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety. 19 I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you inrighteousness and justice, inlove and compassion. 20 I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.
