  4. Attributed financial value • 20% of PTB allocation based on successful treatment outcomes (STO) = £78m • Number of current STO = 30k • Value of each additional STO to future DAT budget = £2,500 • Number of STO Needed = cost of intervention / £2,500

  5. Successful Treatment Outcomes Needed • Number of additional successful treatment outcomes an intervention needs in order to justify investment. • Peer led SMART, NA etc = Zero • One site SMART Partnership = 0.2 • Whole DAT SMART Partnership • Eg. Liverpool = 8 • Eg. Bury = 1

  6. Handling the evidence gap

  7. Number Needed to Treat (NNT)? • How many people need to be exposed to assertive engagement with mutual aid in order to achieve one additional successful treatment completion? ?

  8. Drop the Bridge “treatment exists on one side of the river, recovery on the other”

  9. .. and transform treatment • Better for recovery communities to be inter-woven with treatment • Aim for messy eco-system of support • Ensure visible recovery • Introduce mutual aid early • Support recovery communities alongside and beyond treatment

  10. Eco-system of Recovery Treatment Community Recovery Communities

  11. SMART Growth • 75 peer led meetings in community • Signed up > 80 provider partners • Approaching 250 partnership sites • 1,000 people signed up to our training • 330 completers so far – half peers

  12. DAT Partnership model • Fastest way to grow peer led SMART • Engage all / nearly all providers in Partnership • Two or more Champions at every site • Local lead / project manager from the DAT • Engagement with service user groups • Cost = 0.2% of PTB
