  3. Data? Data is collected so people can better understand the meaning of data. Excel worksheets allow data to easily be summarized and charted Chart conveys a visual representation of data.

Notes: Project Guidelines • Process of developing a worksheet that communicates specific information requires careful analysis and planning. • Establish WHY the worksheet is needed. • ANALYZE the intended users of the worksheet and their needs. • GATHER information and decide what to include. • DETERMINE the worksheet design and style.

  5. Definitions! • **The person or persons requesting the worksheet should supply their requirements in a requirement document. • Includes a needs statement, a source of data, a summary of calculations, and any special requirements.

  14. FYI Many people use the terms spreadsheet and worksheet interchangeably; however, when working in Excel, the correct term is WORKSHEET.

The manager needs an analysis of sales by product to be presented at Friday’s meeting. • How can you use Excel to complete this assignment? What information do you need to produce an accurate, useful analysis? What questions might you ask the accounting manager before starting?
