  1. HDL KNX System Introduction

  2. KNX Introduction KNX- International standard of Home and Building Automation KNX organization Founded in 1999, head office - Brussels, Belgium Member companies : ABB, Siemens, Schneider, HDL..., more than 200 producers Organization website http://www.knx.org

  3. KNXBUS • EIB = European Installation Bus • KNX = EIB + BatiBUS + EHSA • KNX transmission media: • Twist Pair – EIB:the most widely used • Power Line - Batibus • Radio Frequency - EHSA • IP/Ethernet

  4. KNXSystemStructure - Line 1.1.63 1.1.1 • A line can have 64 devices • The Max. length of one line is 1000 meters • The Max. length of two devices on the same line is 700 meters • The Max. length between the power supply and a device is 350 meters

  5. Area Main line 1.0 LC1 LC15 1.1.0 1.15.0 1.1.1 1.15.1 Line 1 Line 15 1.1.63 1.15.63 KNXSystemStructure - Area • An area can have 15 lines • Every line is connected to main line via a line coupler • The main line needs a separate power supply module

  6. Area line 0.0 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 BC1 Area 1 Main line 1.0 1.0.0 LC1 LC15 1.1.0 1.15.0 1.1.1 1.15.1 Linie 1 Linie 15 1.1.63 1.15.63 KNXSystemStructure • A system can have 15 areas • A system can have as many as 14400 devices(15*15*64)

PA format: A(area).B(line).C(device) A=0-15, B=0-15, C=0-255 2. The same area, the same A 3. The same line, the same B

  9. Target/Control Object Object can send or receive telegram Every object has fixed control type(DPT: Data Point Type), e.g. on/off, relative dimming, etc. Every object has fixed data type and length. 220V B A Dimmer Object1:on/off 1bit Object2:relative dimming 4bit Object3:absolute dimming 8bit

  10. GA – Group Address Group Address is a link, to achieve the control function. With same group address, the objects can communicate with each other, e.g., if you want to use button A to control relay channel C, then you need to assign a GA to both of them. 1. GA format: X/Y/Z Main group/middle group/sub-group X=0-15, Y=0-7, Z=1-255 2. Group address 0/0/0 is reserved for broadcast 3. One object can link with more than one group addresses 4. Different objects can link with same group address

  12. ETS - Introdunction ETS is a configuration tool software made by KNX organization, the newest version is ETS5, however ETS3.0f is still widely used. When purchase a KNX product from a company, you will also receive a database of the product, you can then import the product database to ETS software and configure it, and finally upload your configuration to the product.

  13. ETS - Create Database name your new project database double click click ‘new’ to create your project database click the icon in the manu bar to add project, click 'OK' then it will dispaly the windows for this project

  14. ETS - Import Database Steps: manu bar->file->import->select database ->import the selected one or import all

  15. ETS - Add Device Steps: new line->add device->find-> select the imported database->insert

  16. Product Database Version Please check the production version from the module label, and use the corresponding database. For MOSFET Dimmer, production version V1.0 & V1.1---database V1.1; production version V1.2---database V1.2 For other devices: production version V1.0---database V1.0; production version V1.1---database V1.1; production version V1.2---database V1.2. 2020/1/3

  17. ETS - Physical Address double click change physical address

  18. ETS - Group Address • 1- select the object • 2- right-click to select 'link with...' option • 3- assign group address for it: • create new group address • link with existing group address

  19. ETS - Build Communication

  20. Example - DLP + Dimmer Create a project and name it as 'Dimming', add one DLP(M/DLP04.1 ) database and one 4CH MOS Dimmer(M/D04.1) database in area1, line1. The M/DLP04.1 default physical address is 1.1.1, the M/D04.1's is 1.1.2. The default enabled object function of the DLP is switching(on/off) and the dimmer's is channel output(on/off) & relative dimming

  21. Example - DLP + Dimmer Right-click the M/D04.1, select 'edit parameters' to enter the configuration page, enable the 1 bit response function for each channel.

  22. Example - DLP + Dimmer Right-click channnel objects of dimmer, select 'link with...' to assign group addresses for them, here all group addresses are the new one, then select 'create new group address', set the address value then click 'OK'

  23. Example - DLP + Dimmer Right-click the M/DLP04.1, select 'edit parameters' to enter the configuration page, select 'Dimming controller' work mode and 'Single button' operation mode for Rocker A & B

  24. Example - DLP + Dimmer Right-click Rocker A&B objects of DLP, select 'link with...' to assign group addresses for them, here all group addresses need to be corresponding with the dimmer's, then select 'link with existing group address', set the address value then click 'OK'

  25. Example - DLP + Dimmer 1- Right-click the M/DLP04.1, select 'Download...' 2- Select 'Program Address & Application' 3- Press the first and last buttons of DLP at the same time, it will enter the programming mode and its button LED will flesh 4- Start download

  26. Example1 - DLP + Dimmer 1- Right-click the M/D04.1, select 'Download...' 2- Select 'Program Address & Application' 3- Press the 'PROG' button of dimmer, it will enter the programming mode and its LED will turn red 4- Start download

  27. About Downloading • Program Individual Address: Download physical address to device (need to press the PROG button to let it enter the programming mode) • Download Application Program: Download configuration to device (if you know its physical address, just click this option to download the configuration directly) • Program Address & Application: • Download physical address and the configuration to device (if you donot know its physical address, click this option to download both of them, need to press the PROG button to let it enter the programming mode)

  28. Combined Application 1 DLP+FCU fan coil unit M/DLP04.1 M/FCU01.10.1 KNX bus HVAC can read temp from bus or local module. if read temp from local, must connect with the digital temp sensor. TS/C 1.0 digital temperature sensor

  29. Combined Application 2 DLP+M/IRAC.1 Need to learn the IR codes and download them to IR emitter from HDL KNX Assistant Software HDL KNX Assistant Software

  30. Combined Application 3 M/S04.1 + TTS/APR 1.0 1> dry contact input 2> temperature sensor input (TTS/APR 1.0, HDL type) 3>0-10V ballast dimming output TTS/APR 1.0

  31. KNX Assistant Software HDL KNX Assistant Software • It's developed by HDL, supported functions: • Work with KNX DLP Panel • Work with KNX IR Emitter • Work with KNX DALI controller

  32. KNX Assistant Software • Work with KNX DLP Panel Change the button icons, enable users to find the control information effortlessly.

  33. KNX Assistant Software • Work with KNX IR Emitter via the IR Learner, used to learn codes then download to the IR Emitter.

  34. KNX Assistant Software • Work with KNX DALI Controller can read the information from DALI, used to manage the DALI groups etc
