  1. Online Measurements: CN counter, CCN counter, SMPS, aethalometer, nephelometer, CIMEL sunphotometer, PSAP, OPC Analyses: Gravimetric Thermal/optical analysis (TC, OC, EC) Total Organic Carbon and Total Nitrogen Analyzer (TOC, DOC, TN) Ion Chromatography (Na+, NH4+, Ca2+, K+, Mg2+, Cl-, NO3- SO42-, acetate, formate, oxalate, and MSA) ICP (P, K, Mn, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, Al) H-NMR Samplers: Aerosols – Stacked-filter units, low-pressure impactors Daily Aerosol Optical Thickness Satellite Images from NOAA / NESDIS Air Mass Backward Trajectories NOAA ARL HYSPLIT model (HYbrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory) NADP Data UPR-RP Aerosols

  2. Stephan Borrmann, Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany OPC (up to 40 um) and CPC for long-term duration measurements. Maybe 2 AMS (i.e. an AMS and a laser ablation instrument) for campaigns For this year testing period: to decide which instruments he could deploy here, he needs to wait until his group is back from the MEGAPOLI campaign which runs in Paris right now. They do not have many campaigns this year. HALO is down for 2010, but they do not know the timing for 2011. So the timing of the deployment/campaign is critical.

  3. Bill Keene (University of Virginia, USA) Experiment designed to follow up measurements at Cape Verde (CV) during Spring 2007.  primary focus - to resolve processes that drive diel variability in near-surface dust concentrations as reported on their poster during the recent SOLAS meeting [Pszenny et al., 2009]. The field work would involve measurements at the SOLAS Observatory at CV over a period of 6 weeks in parallel with our measurements at Puerto Rico during summer 2011 (ideally during June and July).  Aerosols would be sampled from the top of the 30-m tower Their measurements will include the following (funded by NASA):- Elemental composition (including Al and Mn) of bulk aerosol sampled every 3 hours and analyzed by neutron activation- Elemental composition of size-resolved aerosol sampled every 12 hours- Raywindsondes launched every ~6 hours- Wind profiler - continuous- Micropule lidar - continuous- CIMEL sun photometer - continuous They will also solicit funds from NSF to measure the ionic composition of size-resolved aerosols.
