This is important in producing aluminum and copper used in construction and other industries. Aluminum is lightweight and can bend easily to any difficult shape; copper material also has a greater ability to draw wire and sheet using structural shape rolling. Ideally, rolling is a metal forming step in which metal stock is made to pass through one or more pairs of rolls to lessen the thickness and to make it uniform. The concept is the same as rolling the dough. Rolling is done according to the temperature of the metal rolled. If the temperature of the metal is more than its recrystallization temperature, then the procedure is called as hot rolling. If the temperature of the metal is below its recrystallization, it is known as cold rolling. The objective of the project is to show the importance of structural shape rolling in the current metal- forming process. It should be done without any loss of material. Structural shape rolling is a metal- forming procedure in which a metal element is passed through a pair of rolls. There are two different types of rolling process - flat and profile rolling. In flat rolling, the last shape of the component is either classed as a sheet, also called “strip” (thickness less than 3 mm), or plate (thickness more than 3 mm). In profile rolling, the last product is either a round rod or other cross-section-shaped elements such as structural sections (beam, channel, joist, rails, etc.).
