Reading Minute #2 IS IS NOT Orally reading from a paper or power point A plot summary Shorter than one minute A presentation where the audience can zone out Exclusively factual **A book report or pink sheet** • Oral presentation sharing reflections using literary terms • Sharing a book you enjoyed • Sharing opinions supported by SPECIFIC text examples • Requires preparation and PRACTICE

  4. Reading Minute #2 • PROVE that you read the book, cover to cover. • How can you do this without giving away the ending? • Include things one would not know unless he or she read the book.

Reading Minute #2 • Expectations: See handout • Grading: • Time: 1-5 minutes, on time / as scheduled • Preparation: planning and practice is apparent • Speaking Skills: Not read from notes • Content: Information AND reflections are presented and well developed • PROVED that the ENTIRE book was read

  6. Reading Minute #2 • Audience’s job: in yellow journal • write two THICK questions to ask the presenters • Questions use / include literary terms • Sign up for a reading minute!
