  3. Outline 1. What is PSICAT? 2. Why PSICAT instead of... 3. Noteworthy Features 4. Demo 5. Progress

  4. What is PSICAT? • Java-based graphical tool for viewing and constructing core log diagrams • Customized for working with core logs • Captures data as you draw and edit

  5. Why PSICAT instead of... • CorelDRAW/Photoshop • Capture data from the drawing • Specifically designed for core logging • Other strat column building software • Open data formats • Exactly what you need, nothing more • CHRONOS integration • CoreWall integration

  6. Noteworthy Features (1) • Modular design • Add new functionality easily with 'plugins' • Customized 'builds' of the software for different groups or tasks • Support other communities • Runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux

  7. Noteworthy Features (2) • Works online and offline • Automatic updates (software and data) online • Data can be stored and accessed via a central database • CoreWall integration

  8. Noteworthy Features (3) • Ability to re-scale the data to eliminate the need to re-log the data at different scales • Export the core log diagram at a certain scale e.g. 4m/page or 100m/page • Quickly share the core log data among the on-ice and off-ice participants

  9. Demo

  10. Current Work • Updated the code to the Eclipse RCP 3.2 • Working with Chris Fielding on the data models and figures ANDRILL needs • Database schema • CoreWall integration • Planning a test run with the software in May/June to figure out and fix any issues
