  3. Background • NSSCF – La Salle College • Round 2 $180K computers + $270K on-costs • 1:1 $444K computers + $383K on-costs • Sustainment $205K computers + $36K on-costs • Current Infrastructure • Network • Fibre backbone to all buildings • > 60 wireless hubs • Moving to POE switching

  4. Background cont... • Computers • 14 trolleys x 16 notebooks (n = 224) • 7 labs x 32 desktops (n = 224) • Course specific mini labs (n = 54) • Meeting our 1:2 requirement

Infrastructure • How do we get full network access? • Extend the cable network to all rooms • Convert all switches to POE • Wireless access to all teaching and work areas • How do we achieve 1:1 by Dec 2011? • Yr 9 to 11: notebooks (purchase 444 notebooks) • Yr 12: retain computer laboratories • Do students take notebooks home? • Yes: negotiate warranty & insurance conditions • Lock down of machines

Infrastructure cont... • What about Yr 7 and 8 computer access? • Netbooks for Yr 7s in 2011 • Keep for 2 years • Cost of $140K per year • What occurs to hardware at cycle end? • Given to student (after imaging to original) • How do we support the infrastructure? • (1,400 student computers + 150 staff computers) • Form partnerships with suppliers • Increase support staff • Hire staff for peak periods

Learning Resources • What other hardware will be available? • Data Projectors (1 per GPLA) + IWBs • Printers (at printing stations) • Cameras, Camcorders, etc (in Library) • What software will be available? • Office Suite • Multimedia Suite • How will students access data? • Clickview • MyClasses, Huxley, Intranet, etc

Teacher Capability • How do we get teachers trained? • Notebook per teacher • ICT PD part of Notebook contract • How do we assist the teachers? • ICT Coordinator with time to assist • ICT mentor in each Learning Area • All ICT equipment on BookIt (easy access) • How do we develop a 1:1 pedagogy? • At LAC level • Begin with Yr 7 programmes for 2011 • Physically build with this view

Leadership • How do we get the leadership team onside? • Ensure they attend the NSSCF briefings • Develop and present a detailed ICT Strategic plan • Present strategies to College Board, Parents and Friends • Meet regularly with the Principal • How do we meet the educational needs? • Regular ICT Strategy Meetings • Wide Learning Area representation at meetings • Who needs to know about our plans? • Parents via newsletter, portal • Staff via Learning Area meetings
