  2. Model Ca&b: Composition and StructureThe department-level decision-making space is shown in red/lilac. Legislative decisions: by (reps from) all 3 constituencies regarding 1. bodies of and 2. procedures inrepresentation for department-level decision making – according to types of decisions.What weighs in who gets recommended for tenure cf. which students get assistantships cf. (how) does the department support a student journal/conference etc.; names/mottos/insignia (e.g. logo) of department & programsExecutive decisions: 1. by each constituency as regards its own mandate -- e.g., student caucus decides when/how to organize elections for SC executive, how to use annual Head Grant, when/how to hold Annual Student Conference 2. by reps from each constituency as regards matters in common – e.g., when to hold end-of-term party; who pays for printer toner in Student Computer Lab Option Ca (red faculty caucus/a.k.a. department meeting) Common decision-making space is created as part of Faculty Caucus meeting (attended by all faculty), with reps from Staff and Student constituencies. Option Cb (blue faculty caucus) A separate body, with numerically and/or category-proportional (?) representation, meets periodically (with the participation of the Dept. Chair, but is chaired by other faculty, even staff/students) and advises the Dept. Chair. Members are (s)elected by/from each of the 3 constituencies, according to their respective legislative documents (constitution, by-law) or by agreement if none such exist(s).
