It is intended solely to help you assess the business benefits of upgrading to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.96.   7. Oracle Announces Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne • Oracle announces support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications. The support begins with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.96_F1, which runs with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne application releases 8.9, 8.10, 8.11, 8.11 SP1, and 8.12. • Support extends to MS SQL Server 2005 running on Windows Server 2003 32-bit and x64 editions (database only) • At this time EnterpriseOne support for SQL Server 2005 excludes the following: • SQL Server 2005 on Itanium servers • EnterpriseOne Xe and 8.0 (support is planned for a future release) • EnterpriseOne Mobile Sales • IBM WebSphere Portal 5.1.0.x metadata repository • XPI and Web Services Gateway • Crystal Enterprise Version 10 • Refer to the Supported Platforms pages on Customer Connection for specific details about supported platforms.

Details of Support • Minimum EnterpriseOne Tools release: 8.96_F1 • EnterpriseOne Applications releases supported: 8.9, 8.10, 8.11, 8.11 SP1, 8.12 • Operating systems supported: • Windows Server 2003 32-bit • Windows Server 2003 x64 • Note: Only the database server is supported on Windows Server 2003 x64. Other EnterpriseOne components must run under the 32-bit operating system. • Refer to the Minimum Technical Requirements documents on Customer Connection for details.

Details of Support - Exclusions Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is NOT supported with: • Servers with Intel Itanium processors • JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Xe and 8.0 (Support starts with SP23_Q1 – 32bit only) • EnterpriseOne Mobile Sales • Mobile Sales must remain on SQL Server 2000. • Collaborative Portal with IBM WebSphere Portal 5.1.0.x • EnterpriseOne can utilize SQL Server 2005 as the repository for business data. However, SQL Server 2005 cannot be used as the WebSphere Portal database. • XPI and Web Services Gateway • SQL Server 2005 is not certified to fulfill the Crystal Enterprise Version 10 requirement for a CMS database

  10. Impact to Installations and Upgrades SQL Server 2005 is supported with: • EnterpriseOne Applications 8.9 and above with 8.96_F1 • Planner ESU with instructions for SQL Server 2005: • 8.9 PF4671 • 8.10 PG4759 • 8.11 PH12097 • 8.11 SP1 JJ12489 • 8.12 JK10721

Impact to Enterprise Server, Deployment Server, and Windows Client SQL Native Client (SNAC): • Any EnterpriseOne machine that acts as a client to SQL Server 2005 requires SNAC, including: • Enterprise server • Deployment server • Windows client • SQL Native Client can be downloaded from Microsoft’s web site (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads)

Impact to Web Servers • The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver is supported with the following web application servers: • Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 • WebSphere Application Server 6.0.x • The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver can be used with either SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 • Manual configuration of the SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver is required.   13. Special Note for Auditing Functionality • Customers using the EnterpriseOne auditing (21 CFR Part 11) must apply Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1 and hot fix KB925227

Special EnterpriseOne Installation Notes for Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 • Installing the 64-bit SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 requires modifications to the registry entries on the database server. • The Platform Pack can’t find the SQL Server 2005 (64-bit) instance and will fail • A new entry must be added to the registry before the Platform Pack can be installed • Refer to the special instructions for the Planner ESU for the explicit procedure

SQL Server 2000 vs. 2005 Performance (32bit) • Running 4 of our most commonly used interactive applications: • Sales Order Entry (P4210) • Work Order Entry (P48013) • Confirm Shipments (P4205) • Supplier Ledger Inquiry (P0411) • Results: • Average response times improved by 13% • Database CPU dropped from 25% to 11% • No noticeable change in memory usage between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 • Evaluation was performed under lab conditions – actual customer results will vary.

  19. SQL Server 2005 POC – Interactive Users • The database server: AMD 4-way (2.6 GHz) with 16G RAM. • CPU utilization never exceeded 16.1% Note: 90th percentile indicates that 90% of the transactions were under this time.
