  8. There are multiple intelligences…

  9. When we make our choices… • We need to be aware of our strengths • We need to realise that it is NORMAL and OK not to be equally strong in all of the “intelligences”

  10. We are made… …to grow to wholeness “I came so that you may have life and have it to the full” -John 10:10

  11. This journey to wholeness… …takes a lifetime…

  12. …and involves making choices about… ?subject choices ?relationships ?careers ?attitudes to life ?motivations ?life-paths

  13. Wise choices… …are rooted in what makes me feel (more) whole… …and in what helps others grow to wholeness

  14. Careers and Vocations Is there a difference?

  15. Career • A means to provide for your life • Always involves payment/ a salary • May be motivated by service to others • May involve a period of preparation/training • May be fulfilling and lead to wholeness • May be founded on a vocation

Vocation • Rooted in love for God, self and others • A Calling (vocare: “to call out”) • A way of life • A state of commitment (e.g. Marriage/ single life/ ordination/ministry/ vowed Religious life) • Service is vital • Payment/ a salary is not a motivating factor • May involve time of preparation/training • May involve a career • May be fulfilling and lead to wholeness

Grade 9 • What are my gifts and talents? • What are my strengths of character? • What motivates me in life? • List the subjects which allow you to nurture your gifts/ talents/ strengths of character. • What subjects are you thinking of choosing next year and why? • Do these subjects make you feel whole or inadequate? • What life-path/ career-path do these subjects empower you to do?

Grade 10 • What motivates you more…money or serving others? • How do you view work…as a career, a vocation or as a combination of the two concepts? • What life-path/ career-path would you like follow? • Name ONE specific life-choice/ career which fits into your chose life-path/ career-path. • Describe the training/ qualifications needed for your choice of life-choice/career • Name the institutions/ places of training where you would prepare for your life-choice/ career. • Which institution/place of training would you most like to attend and why?

Give reasons for your opinion.
