  3. The Most Important Thing “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us…. the most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.” – A.W. Tozer

  4. What is God Like? • The unknowable, absent, distant God? • The straight-laced, externals-focused God of your religious family? • The gotcha God? 10. It took Peter 2.5 years to conclude Jesus is the Son of the Living God. Even then, Peter betrayed Him. But, John 21 • Thomas took much more convincing — even after Christ resurrected (John 20:25) • John the Baptizer doubted (Matt. 11:5ff; Luke 7:22ff) • Christ never rejected his disciples for their capacity. He did reteach them and restore them. He “believed in” them. (John 17; Phil. 1:6-7; Mark 4:9-10; John 16:12; John 17:8, 14) • JESUS The Endearing Patience of

  11. His Presence is the Fullness and Joy of His Disciples, and their strength. (John 10:10; 15:11; Neh. 8:10; Ps. 28:7, 87:7) • He would not leave them as orphans. (John 14, 16:7) • He promised to be with them, even to the end of the Age (Matt. 28:20). • There was the Cross, the Grave, then Resurrection… but THEN…Pentecost!!
