Do Now • Unscramble the paragraph! • Directions: Put the 5 sentences in the paragraph into the correct order • You got kids like me who haven't hit their growth spurt yet mixed in with these gorillas who need to shave twice a day. But then again, I guess that would mean kids like Chirag Gupta would still be in the first grade. If it was up to me, grade levels would be based on height, not age. Let me just say for the record that I think middle school is the dumbest idea ever invented. And then they wonder why bullying is such a big problem in middle school.

  4. Objectives • Content Objective: • We will be able to understand what a paragraph should have, including a topic sentence and supporting details. • Language Objective: • We will be able to structure our own paragraphs in a sequential way that makes sense to the reader.

  5. Paragraphs • Topic Sentence: Topic sentence should be an overview of what the paragraph will be about. It should include the subject of the paragraph, and an opinion about it. • Supporting sentences should provide details that support the idea from the topic sentence. • Activity: Go through your paragraphs. Each paragraph should have at least 4 sentences, and no more than 8 sentences. You should also have a topic sentence, and the sentences that follow should support the topic sentence.
