  3. Accountability • Reader Preparation: • Each reader is expected to read 100 pp per week (to achieve 900 page goal.) • Each reader annotates text as a preparation method for literature circle. Annotations will be related to topic of the week. • Each reader is expected to be prepared to discuss: • the topic of the week as it pertains to your novel. • text evidence to support your topic within text. • a vocabulary word, its definition and how used in context. • Connection to self, current events, or other media. • LITERATURE CIRCLES

Accountability • Weekly records kept in GROUP folder: • Each reader's book/pages read. • Topic studied. • One vocabulary word/definition per person. • Group creates a summary and reflection about discussion that should include: connections, comparisons, contrasts and aha moments. • Attach each member's prepared notes. • LITERATURE CIRCLES

  5. Your Preparation Guide • You are required to prepare for each week’s literature circle. This will be a homework grade. Your participation and contribution will also be a class grade. Use this guide to prepare: • Read a minimum of 100 pages. • Refer to this week’s topic and find evidence of this topic within the text. Use post-it notes, highlighters and margin notes for your annotations. • Select one vocabulary wordwithin your text. Know its definition. • Think about what you read and practice asking questions to yourself as you read. How can you connect what you read to one of the following: • Personal Experience • Movie • Music • LITERATURE CIRCLES • Current Event • Historical Event
