East Midlands Practice Leads Task Group (EMPLTG) • Re launched with direct support of the East Midlands Nurse Supply and Demand Board (Nurse Directors East Midlands) • Initial scoping meeting August 2018 - Established November 2018 • Constituted of practice placement/ student learning lead representatives from NHS employer organisations across the east Midlands • Desire for a unified approach across placement providers in the region • To ensure high quality learning experiences for student nurses and midwives • Reports to the East Midlands Nurse Supply and Demand Board

  5. Outcomes Exploration of NMC changes with bi-monthly meetings. Commitment from the EMPLTG to establish agreed quality standards for the region to enable transferability the supervisor and assessor role across placement provider organisations. • Agreed all trusts to maintain a database and minimum content required for this • All staff to undertake a minimum 2 yearly update. Format of this could be determined by individual trusts • Preceptorship period to be protected for initial 6 months • All students to have an identified lead supervisor

Outcomes • The EMPLTG have agreed on overall outcomes and quality standards and this is being formally reported to the East Midlands Nurse Supply and Demand Group • Due to the positive benefits identified of regional networking, shared learning and consistency in approaches to quality assurance standards across the region the task group is currently transitioning to become a formal East Midlands Practice education Leads Steering Group. • Terms of reference being finalised and to be approved by the East Midlands Nurse Supply and Demand Board
