Information Recognition on Smartphone (1/2) • To support managing schedule effectively, smartphone devices start applying information recognition technologies. • e.g. In iPhone, when user gets the text message or email from someone, highlight the time expressions and let it be able to add new event of the schedule. Information Recognition on Smartphone (2/2) • Most of recognition technologies applied on the smartphone, focused on the date and time, phone numbers. • For location text, iPhone supports address recognition, but it recognize only completely formatted address. Information Extraction in Research Area • In research area, there have been trials setting up location model, location extraction from the text, geocoding location text including address, and interoperating with other GIS. But there’s no research have tried to make a system with all of these, synthetically.   7. Goal • Extracting schedule information from meeting announcement,and update them to the calendar, automatically. Contribution • Design of location ontology specialized on the meeting announcement. • Implementation of Location-type NER from meeting announcement by rules gathered from corpus which are the instances of location ontology. • Suggestion of the system which can geocode meeting location text extracted from the meeting announcement.
