  3. Philosophy About the Teaching of Math Taking risks leads to learning Everyone is encouraged to reach their potential Different students have different potentials in math Math learning is influenced by developmental parameters Active participation positively influences learning

My Expectations Students will: * Come to class ready to learn * Come to class on time, prepared with materials * Actively participate in class lessons * Practice at home the assignments they are given * Ask for help when they need it Parents will: * Using the planner, check to see completed homework * Communicate with me if concerns arise

HOMEWORK IS … ASSIGNED EVERY NIGHT NOT GRADED FOR ACCURACY BUT CHECKED FOR COMPLETION AND EFFORT CHECKED EVERY DAY ANDCORRECTED GIVEN TO GIVE STUDENTS AS A CHANCE TO PRACTICE WHAT IS LEARNED IN CLASS OR TRY SOMETHING NEW SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE WITH CLASSMATES AFTER SCHOOL http://nsmithcac.wikispaces.com HOMEWORK
