Energy Steps in O+ and H+ Ions in the Cusp and Polar Cap

This study examines the energy distribution of O+ and H+ ions in the cusp and polar cap regions, showing beam-like behavior and high perpendicular heating. The data also suggests a correlation between energy steps in ion populations and enhancements in electron density, possibly due to FAC and wave activity in the magnetic field.
